Big Self Book

Publishing

You have a story to tell. You have a skill to share. You only need accountability and direction.

We are here for you and your book every step of the way.

Why Big Self Books?

Publishing your book at the highest level of professionalism has never been so achievable.

Your book is a multipurpose marketing tool. You use the book to get speaking gigs, consulting, and coaching gigs. It drives leads to your business. It reinforces authority and credibility. It shares your ideas to bring people to you. A book is one of the best marketing tools possible.

Working with us will give you the flexibility to work on your own schedule, but also with the accountability of our presence helping you step by step.

Traditional book publishing is designed to limit the author’s rights and control. The economics of selling a book via traditional publishing channels are dated. The smart way to write a book is to access the services of publishing and writing professionals and write and produce your book on your terms. You retain the rights. You retain full creative control over your message and your book’s design.

Terence

Hawkins

Novelist and Director of the Yale Writers’ Workshop
I’ve known Chad Prevost for over ten years, both as a colleague and as the publisher of my second novel, American Neolithic.  If anyone ever deserved to be called a gentleman and a scholar, it’s Chad. He’s an acute and discerning editor as well as an enthusiastic supporter of those he works with. Most importantly, he’s a man whose word is his bond. Chad’s an enormous pleasure to work with.

Caleb

Ludwick

Award-winning author and CEO of 26Tools
As an author whose work has been published all along the spectrum – from grant-funded one-offs to Hachette/Penguin – I can delightedly testify that my experience with Chad stands out. Every author wants to find a publisher who puts the work first, who believes in nurturing the artist rather than just looking for sales; in short, who gives a damn not only about the work but also about helping the author through the wild ride of seeing their thoughts in print. Chad is that publisher.

Michelle

Bitting

Award-winning author and Professor
My experience with Chad Prevost was as delightful, professional, and inspirational as they come. I felt supported in my work as an artist--totally heard and guided through every step of the publishing process. Through Chad's careful editorial attention and knowledgeable insights, the end result was something of integrity and vision we could all be proud of. I'd work with him again in a heartbeat.

David

Dominguez

Co-founder and editor of The Packinghouse Review. Professor at Reedley College
I worked with Chad when he was the founder of C&R Press. Chad and his staff helped me actualize it’s potential through the editing process. He wanted the best work possible representing the press and its authors. During this time, he was patient and generous and never tried to change the vision I had for my work. In addition, he was exceedingly open to my input, especially when we discussed the design layout and cover art for my book.

Peter

Anderson

Author of the critically-acclaimed novel, The Unspeakable
Writers have every reason to entrust their work to Chad Prevost. As both editor and publisher, he is not only a canny entrepreneur, but himself in touch with the writing life.  He knows exactly how and when to intervene in order to bring a piece of writing to its fullest effect, and, once the work is completed, how to promote and market it enthusiastically, ethically, successfully.

Alexander

Long

C&R Press
Working with Chad [at C&R Press] was a refreshing & reaffirming experience. Never once did I feel like another name in a catalog or a figure in a ledger. Chad worked with me steadily, patiently, & empathically during each phase of what became my second book of poems. I was still very green as a writer who was publishing, & Chad's guidance & experience helped me grow in ways I don't think I'd have gotten any place else with anyone else.
